ADEN, Yemen, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's newly-appointed ministers of finance and foreign affairs were formally sworn in on Saturday.

The swearing-in meeting took place at the presidential office in Saudi Arabia's capital of Riyadh, where high-ranking Yemeni government officials are temporarily based along with Yemen's President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

According to the state-run Saba News Agency, the ministers thanked Hadi for his trust and vowed to exert hard efforts in performing their missions.

On Thursday, Hadi announced a cabinet reshuffle, naming new foreign and finance ministers to lead the key state institutions in the war-torn Arab country.

The Yemeni president also issued another decree appointing Ahmed al-Fadhli as governor for Yemen's Central Bank that's based in the southern port city of Aden.

The reshuffle comes amid escalating tension between the Saudi-backed Yemeni government and the pro-secession Southern Transitional Council (STC) that seized Aden and other neighboring provinces.

All the country's key institutions, including the central bank, are currently secured by military units of the STC that forced the government officials to fly into Saudi Arabia last month.

Indirect reconciliation talks between representatives of the STC and Yemen's government under the auspices of Saudi Arabia were stalled in Jeddah earlier this month.

The impoverished Arab country has been locked in a civil war since late 2014, when the Houthis overran much of the country and seized all northern provinces including the capital Sanaa.
