RIYADH, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian security services on Saturday arrested seven people over charges of "suspiciously" contacting foreign parties, as well as recruiting senior officials in "sensitive government positions," Saudi Press Agency reported.
The security services revealed that the group was targeting the recruitment of top officials in sensitive government positions and provided financial assistant to hostile individuals abroad to undermine the security and stability of the kingdom.
The authorities arrested seven members of this group, while work is still underway to identify everyone involved and take all the legal measures against them, the statement added.
According to local press, the suspects are four men and three women, all of whom are Saudi nationals.
One of the females is Loujain Alhathloul, 29 years old, a rights activist and a social media figure. She was ranked third in the list of Top 100 Most Powerful Arab Women in 2015.
Although the names were revealed, the seventh suspect's identity was kept anonymous by the security authorities as revealing his name might affect the continuity of the investigation.
