RAMALLAH, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced on Saturday that a Palestinian delegation will head to Cairo on Sunday to convey the Palestinian official position on Palestinian national reconciliation.

"The Palestinian delegation has no response to anyone, because when we talk about this issue, we are talking about the Palestinian position we took on Oct. 21, 2017," said Abbas at the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) meeting at his office in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Last October, Abbas' Fatah party and Islamic Hamas movement reached an Egypt-sponsored agreement, based on which the national unity government began to take over the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

However, the process of power transfer was interrupted after less than two months, as the Palestinian government said it was not allowed to fully control Gaza as per the agreement.

More than one agreement on Palestinian national reconciliation was reached under the sponsorship of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt, but none of them reached a tangible breakthrough to end the division since Hamas violently seized control of the coastal enclave in 2007.

The PLO meeting also discussed several other issues, including the recently approved Israeli nation-state bill, and the cooperation with the Syrian government in the reconstruction of Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian president vowed to spare no efforts to thwart Israel's plan to displace the entire Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar in East Jerusalem.

Regarding the U.S. "Deal of the Century," Abbas said "it is over for us now."

He concluded his speech by asserting "crucial serious decisions in the next two months" over "important issues," without revealing details.

"We have already discussed in the National Council and these issues will be take to the next Central Council and then to the UN to be decided upon," Abbas noted.
